First Solar will begin work to build a 20MW photovoltaic (PV) solar power project in Maryland, US, in the second quarter of 2012.

The solar project, in which First Solar has a 100% stake, will use the company’s photovoltaic modules to power about 2,700 Maryland homes.

First Solar Senior vice president for business development-the Americas Frank De Rosa said the company is pleased to continue its work in Maryland to help the state meet its renewable energy goals.

"We are excited about moving forward on this project, which is expected to provide 125 construction jobs," said Rosa.

Construction of solar project is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2012.
