Photovoltaic (PV) manufacturer First Solar has closed two separate deals for delivering solar modules totaling 795MW with an affiliate of D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) and Origis Energy for an undisclosed price.

With DESRI, the deal is for 200MW and for Origis Energy, it is for 595MW.

As per the deal with DESRI, First Solar will provide new large area Series 6 thin film PV modules for the former’s pipeline of projects that are expected to break ground in the US, in the next 24 months.

Additionally, the PV modules manufacturer has bagged operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts for two projects that are being developed by DESRI.

DESRI CEO Bryan Martin said: “DESRI is thrilled to continue growing its partnership with First Solar.

“We take great comfort knowing that these projects will benefit from the company’s cutting-edge module technology in the industry, as well as its exceptional O&M services during operations.”

The modules from First Solar for DESRI are slated to be delivered in 2019.

First Solar chief commercial officer Georges Antoun said: “This combination of our industry-leading module technology and world-class O&M services will provide DESRI with a reliable, resilient and high-performance renewable energy generation asset.”

For second deal, First Solar will provide its Series 4 modules in 2017 and 2018, followed by delivery of Series 6 modules in 2019 and 2020.

According to First Solar, the advanced technology thin film modules will be used for different projects across the US in which Origis Energy is engaged in the construction of solar sites.
