The MOU represents First Solar’s foray into the Indonesian market and encompasses development, engineering, procurement and maintenance of photovoltaic plants in the country.

The proposed plants will employ First Solar’s advanced thin-film PV modules and related system services and components.

First Solar Business Development senior manager Won Park remarked that their agreement with PJB Services will facilitate a collaboration to provide Indonesia with reliable, cost-effective energy resources.

"This MOU underscores First Solar’s belief that the Indonesian market has great potential as a sustainable market where solar power can be a meaningful part of the energy mix," said Park.

PJB Services president Bernadus Sudarmanta added, "We are excited by the opportunity to collaborate with a world leader in solar energy for the development of utility-scale PV power plants in Indonesia.

"Solar PV electricity can help Indonesia meet its fast-growing power needs while reducing its dependence on fossil fuels."
