The wind power division of Siemens Power Generation has received an order for its first offshore project in the UK from SeaScape Energy, jointly owned by Elsam of Denmark and EDF Energies Nouvelles of France.
The order will see 25 of Siemens’ new 3.6 MW turbines installed at the Burbo Banks offshore wind farm in Liverpool Bay on the west coast of England. The 90 MW farm order is valued at over €90 million with construction due to start in the spring of 2006 and completion scheduled for autumn 2007.
