Generation has begun at the Quilleco hydroelectric project in Chile, with the first 15MW of capacity on line.
Under the terms of a contract with local utility Colbun, Russia’s Power Machines is to design, manufacture, deliver, assemble and adjust Francis type turbines for two 36.5 MW units. The second unit is scheduled to begin commercial operations in mid-May.
Elsewhere in Chile, Power Machines is to supply turbines and generators for two 77.5 MW units at the La Higuera hydro project.
