Oil and gas firm Vast Exploration said that drilling of the first exploration well on the Qara Dagh block in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has reached a total depth of 3,908m.

Niko Resources, the operator of the block, has completed the drilling operations and initiated logging of the open hole Cretaceous section below 3,558m.

A flow test program will be commenced subsequent to the completion of the logging operations.

According to Vast Exploration, the consortium partners will conduct a minimum of three tests across prospective intervals and the testing program is expected to be completed by the end of next month.

Vast Exploration holds a net undivided 37% working interest in the Qara Dagh block.
