The tenders were facilitated by 80 diamond buyers in February and 109 diamonds buyers in April 2013.
The two tenders comprise 35,718 carats of diamond generating revenues of nearly $3m, representing February tender and 20,232 carats diamond grossing revenues of $2.05m, an April tender.
Firestone CEO Tim Wilkes stated that the company board is pleased with the result of the tenders, in particular, with the returns from latest tenders.
"Not only are the diamond prices up considerably since February but they have increased across the board, demonstrating a higher-level of confidence in the sector. This is further endorsed by the increasing number of diamond buyers present at April’s tender,"
explained.
In April 2013, the average price per carat increased by 20% to $101.67 per carat from the February 2013 tender when the price was $84.49 per carat.
