In Q3 2014 the Federal Grid Company is to get the first two 220 kV transformers produced by the new Power Machines–Toshiba High-Voltage Transformers plant within the framework of a long-term co-operation agreement.

The agreement between FGC UES and Power Machines was signed in 2011. It provides for meeting the power generation company’s demands for advanced high-tech equipment and localization of the power transformers production in Russia.

The capacity of the first transformers will amount to 63 MVA. They will be installed at a 220 kV substation named Gubernskaya being under construction in Tyumen. The Power Machines-Toshiba High-Voltage Transformers are to provide the equipment supply and installation supervision and also carry out servicing of the transformers. At present the company has already started to develop the design documentation.

A meeting on the issues of long-term co-operation between the FGC and joint venture of Power Machines and its technology partner – Toshiba Corporation – took place at the new plant’s site in February this year. The parties confirmed their interest in expanding the list of transformer equipment, which is purchased for the needs of the Russian electric grid. The product range expansion will help to satisfy the demand of the FGC UES for innovative domestic products being as good in quality as leading equivalents in the world.
