The committee also approved a water transfer project to the Emirate of Umm al-Qaiwain which will improve the availability of water in the surrounding areas.

The water transfer project aims to lay a 61km long water pipeline of 800mm diameter with a capacity to carry 20 million gallons per day from the main network of the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority.

Umm al-Qaiwain Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Committee Ahmed Juma Al Za’abi was quoted by WAM as saying the projects come within the Committee’s plan to implement the third phase of the initiatives of His Highness the Head of State.

The cost of the water transfer project is AED164m ($44.63m) and is expected to be completed in 18 months.

The water network and water transfer projects are in implementation of the directives of the president and follow-up of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
