According to Mark Ward, managing director, Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPN), the challenges frightening hydrocarbon exploration and production in the Gulf of Guinea could only be resolved through multidimensional approach which included technology advances, steady fiscal policies and a secure operational environment. According to him, the three aspects are vital and it would entail partnerships between the international oil firms, national oil companies and host governments.

Besides, he opined that depending on present trends, the region is one of the most productive resource basins in the world, where many have enjoyed success.
