The company said that consumers can drop off their end of life electronics including computers, monitors, printers, motherboards, televisions, UPS, PDAs, networking equipment, scanners, VCR/VCD/DVD players, fax machines, entertainment systems, and phones for recycling at the facilities from Monday through Saturday between 9:30AM and 6PM.
Extra Space Storage will have its California self storage properties located in Compton, Venice, Los Angeles, North Hollywood, Santa Fe Springs, Pacoima, Lancaster, Montclair, San Bernardino, Fontana, Oceanside and El Cajon join this program.
According to the EPA, in 2007, US generated 3.01 million tons of e-waste, of which only 410,000 tons or 13.6% was recycled and rest went to landfills or incinerators.
Through this partnership with TRI Products that claims to recycle 20 million pounds of scrap annually, complying with EPA regulations, the company wants to serve the local communities by preventing a considerable amount of e-wastes from going to landfill.
Charles Li, president of TRI, said: “We are excited about this new partnership with Extra Space Storage as it helps us increase our footprint across Southern California and provides us additional collection centers.”
