The joint venture companies suspended the well as water monitoring well.
The companies took the decision after the initial analysis results of the 15 coal samples from the well were tested and measured for the presence of gas content.
The result indicated lower than expected gas content in the core coal samples.
Galilee joint venture drilled the exploration core well in ATP 991P to a total depth of 1,498m using the EDA#2 drilling rig and cored a 217m section of Betts Creek and Aramac coal measures.
The company also found a 17m section of Toolebuc shale and the chip samples were recovered which have been sent to test measure oil content and thermal maturity.
