Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) is to hold an auction on 12 December for shares in the Thac Ba hydro power plant.

The 120MW Thac Ba is owned in whole by EVN and produces an average of 385MkWh/yr. The auction will take place at the Hanoi Securities trading centre, where Thac Ba’s shares will reportedly be sold at a total value of US$9.6M (24.2% of chartered capital), with a face value of US68 cents per share.

According to reports, EVN plans to sell shares in five more of its power plants in 2006, including two hydro power facilities: Thac Mo and Da Nhim-Ham Thuan-Da Mi.
