The project is expected to improve sanitation infrastructure in the semi-urban areas of the capital, impacting a total of one million people.
The African Development Bank has committed to fund about €26m towards the project with construction expected to commence as early as 2013.
Government of Burkina Faso will provide an additional €8m with €1.5m to be invested by the Municipality of Ouagadougou.
Imitative of the African Ministers’ Council – African Water Facility will bring in €647,000 for the projects, while the city is seeking the remaining €103m shortfall to be met by other financial partners.
Commenting on the developments African Water Facility coordinator Akissa Bahri expressed his confidence in the financial partners extending their support.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year 2017.
