The company plans to develop the power line from ETT’s Barney Davis substation to AEP Texas Central Company’s (TCC) Naval Base substation.

The project is important to maintain transmission service reliability to Flour Bluff, portions of Corpus Christi, and the North Padre-Mustang Island area.

ETT said the project was endorsed by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) on January 24, 2013.

At Naval Base substation, TCC will construct a new 69kV gas insulated substation, while it will install a new 138kV/69kV autotransformer and 138kV termination facilities for the new line termination.

In addition, ETT will construct the new 138kV termination facilities at the Barney Davis substation.

The company expects to begin construction of the project in April 2016 and the new power line will be operational by December 2016.

The estimated cost of the entire project would range between $33.1m and $50m.
