The developments include 24.7MW Shizukuishi solar project and 9.3MW Mito solar project.

The Shizukuishi solar PV power plant will be constructed in the Iwate Prefecture of Japan on 51ha of leased land.

Construction is anticipated to start in October 2014 and the project is planned to start operations by the end of 2016.

Upon completion, the Shizukuishi facility is expected to generate around 25.6GWh of energy per year.

The Mito solar PV power plant will also be built in the Ibaraki Prefecture of Japan on 27ha of leased land.

Construction is planned to start in September 2014 and the project is anticipated to start operations by the end of 2015.

The Mito project is expected to generate around 10.3 GWh of electricity per year.

Hitachi High-Tech vice president and executive officer and general manager of Global Trading Group Hidenori Nagao said: "These projects will be built with our proven technical capabilities in engineering, procurement and construction ("EPC") using Hitachi’s highly efficient and reliable solar PV power generation systems.

"Hitachi High-Tech, together with Etrion, are targeting a total of 100 MW by 2015 and a total of 300 MW by 2017, including these first two projects."

Japan, which has more than 14GW of installed capacity, intends to have 28GW of national solar power capacity by 2020.

Etrion and Hitachi High-Tech have signed an agreement in 2012 to develop a pipeline of solar assets in Japan.

Shizukuishi and Mito are the initial solar projects to be constructed under the agreement.
