As reported the companies have formed a consortium to build the plant in northern Poland by 2015. The plant, which is estimated to cost $1.4 billion, will consume approximately 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas every year.
Talks have been initiated with Polish gas company PGNiG for supplying gas to the plant. Reportedly, the companies have not yet decided on the ownership structure of the new joint venture.
Beata Ostrowska, a spokesperson of Energa told Dow Jones: “PGNiG has declared that by the time the generator goes on line gas supplies for the plant would be available.”
The proposed gas-fired plant is expected to emit 40% less carbon dioxide compared to a similar coal-fired unit.
