ESA Renewables has completed a 1.26MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in eastern North Carolina, US.

The solar PV array is online and generating electricity from atop a rooftop covering an area about 177,160ft² in New Bern.

The New Bern solar array employing poly-crystalline modules manufactured by Canadian Solar will generate about 1.5 million kWh of electricity per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by around 1,000 tons annually.

Progress Energy Carolinas will buy the electricity generated by the solar project, which will be operated by ESA Renewables, to serve the utility’s customers.

ESA will operate and maintain the system for the duration of the contract with Progress Energy Carolinas.
