The report said that E.ON is planning to sell the network and German power plants to settle a European Union (EU) probe for suspected infringements of EU competition law involving the German electricity markets.
E.ON is also divesting 5 000 MW of generation capacity. The asset divestiture remedies were voluntarily offered by E.ON in order to settle two different cases the commission had launched against the undertaking with inspections in December 2006.
Petra Wessels, a spokeswoman for Tennet, told Bloomberg that Tennet is aware of E.ON’s power-grid sale and will follow that with interest in relation to the northwestern European market.
The grid sale is expected to close in 2010.
