The €120m project, which features 16xVestas V112 turbines, will produce enough electricity to power around 28,000 homes.
E.ON completed installation of all the turbines in late July and connected them to the grid in August 2013 following only 19 months of construction; Vestas has assembled the turbines at a new facility in Esbjerg harbor, Denmark.
E.ON has used MPI Discovery, an offshore installation vessel, to construct Karehamn as part of an arrangement between the parties to exclusively serve E.ON offshore wind farms for the next six years.
MPI Discovery is an offshore installation vessel with six jack-up legs which can lift the whole 140m long and 40m wide vessel out of the water to provide a stable platform from which foundations and turbines can be safely installed even in rough seas.
