Under the agreement, E.ON will contribute its energy know-how to the joint platform, which provides an important base for the development.
E.ON Technology & Innovation head Urban Keussen said E.ON and Deutsche Telekom are now pooling their capabilities.
"As a result of the combination of energy and communications, the company will be able to offer its customers convenient and efficient energy solutions, while at the same time contributing to reliable power grids for the future," Keussen said.
E.ON said the company company already offers forward-looking energy solutions like funding programs for small power generation systems in homes or smart meters combined with flexible electricity rates.
