E.ON Climate & Renewables (EC&R) North America has commenced operations at the 100MW Anacacho Wind Farm in Kinney County, Texas.

The facility is located 14 miles southeast of Brackettville and employs 55 Vestas 1.8MW turbines.

EC&R North America CEO Steve Trenholm said that company is looking to offer homegrown renewable energy to region as well as economic support.

"Wind farms create jobs, and provide an economic shot in the arm to farmers, ranchers, and rural communities across America," added Trenholm.

This project is expected to contribute $17m in local taxes for the state, while paying $8m in local salaries and more than $34m to landowners.

Anacacho Wind Farm is the 18th operational wind farm for the company in North America, generating about 2,700MW of energy.

E.ON Climate & Renewables claimed a total investment of $5bn for the US market over the last five years for the development and operation of its wind power generating assets.
