US-based power utility Entergy has reported earnings of $170.6 million, or $0.89 per share, for the fourth quarter of 2008, compared to $193.9 million, or $0.96 per share, for the same quarter of 2007.

For the fourth quarter of 2008, Entergy has reported total operating revenues of $3 billion, compared to $2.7 billion for the same period of 2007.

Entergy has reported earnings of $1.2 billion, or $6.23 per share, for 2008, compared to $1.1 billion, or $5.60 per share, for 2007. The company has reported total operating revenues of $13.09 billion for 2008, compared to $11.48 billion for 2007.

The company said that Entergy Nuclear earned $226.6 million, or $1.18 per share, on as-reported and operational bases in fourth quarter 2008, compared to $141.4 million, or 70 cents per share, on an as-reported basis and $159.8 million, or 79 cents per share on an operational basis in fourth quarter 2007. Its earnings increased primarily as a result of higher power prices and lower income tax expense.
