The companies have signed a framework deal to develop renewable energy projects and hybrid solutions with a focus on energy efficiency.
The deal covers onshore and offshore wind generation, solar power, hybrid gas-renewable projects, electrification of new and existing assets and waste-to-energy projects.
It also includes decommissioning of mature industrial assets to make them greener and deploying technologies developed by Eni itself.
The Italian company said its experience with GE in the oil and gas sector would be helpful in developing the projects.
Eni aims to progressively decarbonise its energy mix and the agreement with GE is part of that strategy.
In May this year, Eni planned to deploy over 420MW renewable energy projects. The company recently signed an agreement with Savannah Accelerated Development Authority to assess technical and economic feasibility to develop 20 to 50MW solar plant in Ghana.
Eni has been operating in the renewable energy sector since 1980. Last year, the company launched the energy solutions department to develop and build large-scale industrial projects in Italy and abroad.
