The solar energy company was bought by Engie for an undisclosed price from Solar Spectrum. Sungevity International is the European subsidiary of American residential solar company Sungevity which had filed for bankruptcy recently.
According to Engie, Sungevity International has operations across the Netherlands, the UK, Belgium and Germany. It specializes in servicing and installing solar solutions for both residential and commercial customers.
Sungevity International CEO Jan Slaghekke said: “The missions of Engie and Sungevity on renewable energy reinforce each other. Customers are increasingly looking for integrated energy solutions that are very reliable and durable.
“Our customer-oriented approach is strongly driven by technology. Since 2012 we are greatly increased and with the support of Engie will give wings to our mission to cover all roofs with solar panels.”
Last year, Engie Electrabel, the Belgian subsidiary of Engie had formed a partnership with Sungevity to launch an innovative solar product in the country for residential users. Recently, Engie and Sungevity had formed a partnership in the Netherlands.
