EnerNOC has led the Series A round of financing of Genability, a software company that licenses its extensive database of electricity tariffs and rate engine for use with third-party products, such as energy intelligence software (EIS) platforms, to precisely find, maximize, and communicate energy savings.

The company has also signed a licensing agreement that provides certain exclusive rights to Genability’s technology for EIS solutions, which serve the commercial, institutional, and industrial sector.

The connection of Genability’s tariff engine to EnerNOC’s EIS applications is expected to enable the end users to have more accurate energy forecasts, make operational tradeoffs in a more informed manner, and also verify the cost savings from energy efficiency measures.

EnerNOC Product Strategy and Technology vice president Micah Remley said Genability’s technology provides the company an ability to rapidly scale the amount of tariff information currently supported by its EIS platform.

”More importantly, it gives our customers the transparency they need to truly understand and appreciate the bottom line benefit that can be achieved by managing energy with software," Remley added.

Genability founder and CEO Jason Riley said, ”This partnership will allow both companies to bring more cost savings to our respective customers."

EnerNOC chairman and CEO Tim Healy will join Genability’s board of directors.
