A partnership between EnergySolutions and Environmental Dimensions has secured a $200m waste operations contract from the US Department of Energy to provide services for Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Under the terms of the contract, the works include planning, storage, movement, characterization, processing, and packaging at RCRA, radiological, and nuclear facilities.

EnergySolutions and EDI will place particular emphasis on transuranic (TRU) waste retrieval, characterization, processing, and packaging for disposal at the WIPP site in southeastern NM.

LANL has signed an agreement with the Governor of New Mexico to remove all above ground TRU waste and ship to WIPP by June 2014.

EnergySolutions offers customers with integrated services and solutions, including nuclear operations, characterization, decommissioning, decontamination, site closure, transportation, nuclear materials management, processing, recycling, and disposition of nuclear waste, and research and engineering services across the nuclear fuel cycle.
