EnergyAustralia, a firm engaged in electricity distribution, has announced that the design plans for the new $32 million substation at Kingsford will be displayed on October 6, 2007, following input from the community.

Geoff Lilliss, network general manager at EnergyAustralia, said: The company had delivered newsletters to about 250 local homes and businesses to update them on the project and invite them to the information day.

The new Kingsford substation has been architecturally designed to fit in with the local streetscape and the front of the building will look similar to a modern home. This indoor facility will replace the existing Randwick zone substation which is soon due for replacement. It will supply electricity to more than 18,000 homes and businesses in Kingsford and surrounding suburbs.

It was important to us to involve the community in the design of the building from the start and their suggestions have helped us make sure the exterior of the building suits the character of the area. Now the designs have been fully developed, we’re holding another information display to present them to the community and give them the opportunity to talk to our project team.
