The A$45 million upgrade to the bulk supply point in Yates Road is one of the largest projects in EnergyAustralia’s A$320 million capital works program across the coast between 2005 and 2010.
Geoff Lilliss, general manager of networks at EnergyAustralia, said that the upgrade would cater for ongoing growth across the Central Coast, where demand for electricity is twice as high as other areas on EnergyAustralia’s supply network.
Mr Lilliss said: The Ourimbah substation is one of the key supply points on the Central Coast, presently servicing almost 40,000 homes and businesses from Peats Ridge in the south to Berkeley Vale and Lisarow in the north, and east to Long Jetty.
We’re intending to update the substation by converting the existing outdoor layout to a modern, indoor design and provide for future growth by preparing the site for an additional transformer. We will be installing new, low noise transformers and enclosing the new electrical equipment.
