Ukraine’s nuclear power stations operator Energoatom has reconnected Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant’s (NPP) third reactor to the Ukrainian power grids, after completion of medium-term repairs.

On 29 January 2013, Energoatom disconnected the reactor to proceed with the upgrade.

On 25 March, 13 out of 15 reactors are operating at Ukraine’s four existing nuclear power plants.

Energoatom is currently carrying out repairs at Rivne NPP’s third reactor and Yuzhnoukrainsk NPP’s first reactor.

The operator said that radiation levels and fire and environmental situations at all Ukrainian NPPs are normal.

Energoatom operates Zaporizhia, Yuzhnoukrainsk, Rivne and Khmelnytsky plants with 15 VVER reactors whose total installed electrical capacity is 13.835GW.
