Electricity supplier Energex has restored power to around 10,000 homes and businesses that lost power supply as lightning hit parts of the southeast Queensland electricity network.
<p>Areas affected were the Brisbane Valley, southern Gold Coast and parts of Caboolture Shire as a series of small but intense storm cells swept through the region.<br /><br />More than 6,500 lightning strikes were recorded by the GPATS system as the storms passed over the region, some hitting Energex equipment.</p>
