According to the company, new modular buildings are now on site and the new substation is expected to be up and running early 2009. Included in the works is a major reinforcement project currently underway at the Camp Hill substation.
The project is part of an A$4 billion-plus five-year capital expenditure program currently being undertaken by Energex.
Geoff Wilson, mines and energy minister of Queensland, said that the new substation would meet the demand for electricity in the fast-growing eastern suburb now and in the future.
