Revenue increase 40% to E61.18 billion

Italian power and gas utility Enel has reported a net income of E5.29 billion for the year 2008, a 35% increase compared to E3.92 billion for the year 2007.

Enel has reported revenue of E61.18 billion for the year 2008, a 40% increase compared to E43.69 billion for the year 2007.

The company has reported earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of E14.32 billion for the year 2008, a 45% increase compared to E9.84 billion for the year 2007.

Enel has reported earnings before interest and taxes of E9.54 billion for the year 2008, a 40.7% increase compared to E6.78 billion for the year 2007.

Earlier on 20 February 2009, Enel signed an agreement with Acciona for the acquisition of 25.01% of Endesa for 11.1 billion euros, in line with the provisions of the contract signed between Enel and Acciona on 26 March 2007. In the fourth quarter 2008, Enel completed the allocation process of the cost of acquisition of 67.05% of Endesa.

From 2009-13, the key strategy of Enel includes maintenance of leadership positions in key markets such as Italy, Iberia, Slovakia, Romania, Russia and Latin America and strengthening position within the nuclear sector.
