Featuring 32 wind turbines, the facility is expected to generate up to over 160 GWh annually, which is equivalent of the electricity needs of about 60,000 Chilean households.
The wind power project, which is due to come on line in the first half of 2015, will save over 130,000t of CO2 emission into the atmosphere.
The power generated will be delivered to Chile Central Region Transmission Network’s (SIC) transmission grid.
Development of the facility is expected to require an investment of approximately $140m.
Separately, Enel Green Power is also developing its largest Chilean wind farm, Taltal, with a capacity of 99MW as well as three solar plants, with a total capacity of 136 MW.
Additionally, the company owns and operates two hydro plants with a total installed capacity of 92MW in Chile. It also operates the Talinay Oriente and Valle de los Vientos wind farms with 180MW in total installed wind capacity.
