One of the two lots assigned to EGP is located at Teulada in the province of Cagliari, while the second one at Serre Persano in the province of Salerno.

About 60MW of photovoltaic power plants will be developed on the land, which covers a total of about 190 hectares with high solar radiation levels.

The photovoltaic power plants will use the panels produced by the new Catania factory of 3Sun, an equal joint venture between EGP, Sharp and STMicroelectronics.

Once fully operational, the plants will produce about 80 million kWh a year, equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly 30,000 households, as well as avoiding the emission of some 58,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.

EGP CEO Francesco Starace said the new facilities will add to the 67MW installed by the company in Italy and around the world in 2010 and 2011.
