Enel has started construction of a 90 MW wind farm in Brazil.
The Cristalandia wind farm in the northeastern state of Bahia will start operating in the second half of 2017 and will require an investment of $190 million, Enel said.
It will be the sixth wind farm built by the firm in Bahia state and will add to Enel’s installed wind capacity of 264 MW there.
Enel Green Power Brasil Participacoes (EGPB) won the license to build and operate the wind farm last year in the Leilao de Fontes Alternativas public renewable energy auction.
The project will sell its output to a pool of Brazilian electricity distribution companies under a 20-year offtake agreement.
In Bahia state, Enel is also building the 180 MW Delfina wind project and two large-scale solar farms: the 254 MW Ituverava project and the 158 MW Lapa solar farm.
