Eneco has said that 60 wind turbines of 2MW capacity each are situated 23km from the Dutch coast in block Q7 off IJmuiden, Netherlands, in a water depth of 19-24m.
The Princess Amalia wind farm is expected to produce enough electricity to power 125,000 Dutch households and help avoid 225,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
Jeroen de Haas, chairman of the board of management at Eneco, said: For Eneco, the realization of this wind farm represents an important milestone in our sustainable strategy. For the Netherlands, the Princess Amalia wind farm is a good step towards the 6,000MW of wind energy at the North Sea which should make a substantial contribution to achieving the Dutch energy and climate objectives.
