Netherlands-based Eneco has concluded an agreement with the Mitsubishi Corporation giving the latter a 50% stake in the Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm.

Eneco Luchterduinen is an offshore wind facility, located 23 kilometers from the coast between Noordwijk and Zandvoort.

The 129MW farm employs 43 wind turbines supplied by Vestas and is scheduled to be completed by the middle of 2015.

Eneco Group CEO Jeroen de Haas remarked that both companies share a common objective of expanding renewable energy generation.

"Like Eneco, Mitsubishi is committed to investing in the Dutch renewables market and both companies share the view of the Dutch government that projects of this nature are vital to obtaining a secure, affordable and sustainable future energy supply in the Netherlands," added Haas.

Mitsubishi joins Vestas, Van Oord, Joulz and TenneT as the other partners for the Eneco Luchterduinen project, which will generate sufficient electricity to meet the needs of 150.000 households per annum.
