Endesa's chairman has met Andalusian regional president Manuel Chaves to reiterate and discuss his company's plans for what it claims is the region's largest ever investment by an electricity company. Endesa is seeking to invest E3.64 billion in the region over the next four years.

According to a company release, the chairman’s first visit since being appointed to the post demonstrates the company’s commitment to Andalusia, as borne out by its plans to undertake significant projects related to renewable energies, particularly solar and wind power.

In line with the regional government’s sustainable energy plan, Endesa would promote renewable energy projects totaling more than 1,100MW.

With over four million customers in Andalusia, the company said that it is already the region’s largest electricity firm, with revenues in excess of E8.9 billion in 2006.
