Spanish utility Endesa has signed an 18 month power supply contract with car manufacturer Opel in Germany as part of its programme offering short-term, flexible purchases on the futures markets, enabling consumers to optimise power purchasing management and minimise costs.

Opel’s plants in Bochum and Kaiserslautern will be supplied with approximately 500 GWh over the term of the contract, which is renewable in 2008 and 2009.

It is the first of its kind in Germany.
