The Tudor Rose oil encountered an 80ft oil column within the Tertiary age Beauly Sands, however proper representative oil samples were not obtained.
Analysis indicates that the oil accumulation contains over 500 million barrels of oil in-place.
Current well is being drilled 2.5km from, and at a similar elevation to the discovery well, with the primary objective of establishing the gravity and viscosity of the oil through proper testing.
The well is expected to be drilled to about 3,500ft using the Transocean Sedco 704 semi-submersible rig.
Drilling is expected to take about 20-30 days for completion subject to weather conditions and operational requirements.
Endeavour has a 20% working interest in the field which is operated by EnCore Oil.
