The partners will each invest around €100m in Swedegas.
Owned by EQT Infrastructure, Swedegas is a certified Transmission System Operator owning around 600km of high-pressure gas pipelines and an underground storage facility, Skallen, located near Halmstad. Its transmission grid extends from Dragör in Denmark to Stenungsund in Sweden.
Enagás and Fluxys, which will own equal stake in Swedegas, expect the transaction to yield synergies as it provides a common line of interest to be pursued.
Swedegas CEO Lars Gustafson said: "The projects that we are working on in Sweden will now be put in a broader context where we can identify synergies with Enagás’ and Fluxys’ operations in other European countries."
Enagas is the main carrier of natural gas in Spain, owning approximately 11,000km of pipelines, five regasification plants and three underground storage facilities. It is the technical manager of the Spanish gas system.
Belgium-based Fluxys is an independent gas transit operator that deals with gas transmission, gas storage and terminalling of LNG. It has gas grids in Belgium, Germany and Switzerland and Enagás has operations in Spain and South America.
Fluxys CEO Walter Peeraer said: "Both Fluxys and Enagás are long-standing LNG infrastructure players and we see great opportunities for sharing knowledge with Swedegas’ highly experienced staff and developing the small-scale LNG market in Sweden."
EQT acquired Swedegas in 2010.
