The new capability is expected to provide electric, gas and water utilities the visibility and process automation to drive operational efficiency and improve customer service.

eMeter said that in addition to its real-time capabilities, the company’s solution provides the benefit of pre-built interoperability with any smart metering infrastructure (AMI) and now, meter data unification and synchronization system (MDUS) integration with SAP solutions.

This is the first in a series of product releases based on eMeter’s work as one of the original Strategic Vendor members of the SAP Lighthouse Council and reduces smart grid implementation and ongoing maintenance costs. With this solution, utilities gain the advantage of an out-of-the box, standard interface, enabling SAP customers to capitalize on EnergyIP’s capabilities essential to intelligent metering and smart grid success, the company said.

Larsh Johnson, co-founder and CTO, eMeter, said: “We are excited to deliver this new capability as part of EnergyIP. eMeter is unique in the industry providing out of the box two-way integration with both Smart Metering infrastructure and utility business systems. Working with SAP and the Lighthouse Council for the last two years enables us to insure interoperability with the leader in utility business systems using the standard MDUS interface.”

The new addition delivers EnergyIP’s MDUS interfaces for data management, exchange and process integration with SAP solutions and has completed all tests required by the SAP Utilities IBU, demonstrating the business functionality based on integration between multiple meter data collection systems and SAP for utilities as defined in SAP Enhancement Package 4.
