Czech Republic-based EPH announced last year that it would convert the plant, which has been operating since 1972. Emerson will be the main automation and electrical contractor, and expects to complete the project this year.
Emerson said in a statement that it will be responsible for demolition, engineering, installation, start-up, commissioning and co-ordination of work among multiple suppliers and contractors. Doosan Babcock will deliver combustion and emissions systems for the project.
EPH purchased the 420 MW Lynemouth plant from RWE in January 2016. On completion of the conversion, Lynemouth will be able to generate 390 MW.
