General Renewable Energy and Technics (GREAT) has a wind farm consisting of eight wind turbines with a total capacity of 10.4MW in Fitou, in the French department of Aude.
Through its subsidiary Alize Energie, the company also has a portfolio of wind projects with a 615MW generation capacity that are being studied or developed.
Electrabel is reportedly strengthening its wind energy development potential in France, to complement the various projects conducted by Suez’s Compagnie du Vent.
The Belgian company also benefits from increased expertise in terms of maintenance, through the specialized company Accel Conseil, a subsidiary of GREAT. The acquisition is reportedly an ideal fit with Suez’s intention to produce 18% of its European generation capacity from renewable energy sources from 2009.
