The Elba Island LNG terminal expansion consists of three new vaporizer units, which were put in service on March 1, raising the facility’s send-out capacity to a total of 1.75bcf per day and one new storage tank that will be commissioned later this summer increasing the storage capacity at the facility by 4.2bcf.
Elba Express pipeline, an approximately 190 mile pipeline with a total capacity of 945mmcf/d transports natural gas supplies from the Elba Island LNG terminal to markets in the southeastern and eastern US. The Elba terminal expansion and the Elba Express pipeline projects are fully supported by long term firm capacity commitments from Shell NA LNG.
Norman Holmes, senior vice president and chief commercial officer of both Southern LNG and Elba Express, said: “These two projects represent approximately $900m of capital investment in critical new natural gas infrastructure which will be used to meet the needs of consumers and provide new sources of natural gas for the growing southeastern and eastern US markets.”
