eIQ Energy has signed an agreement with Granite Construction to provide parallel solar technology for a 1.2MW solar photovoltaic (PV) installation at Granite's aggregate and hot mix facility at Coalinga, in the US state of California.

eIQ Energy’s vBoost DC-to-DC converter modules will be used with Solar Frontier’s CIS thin-film solar modules.

eIQ Energy said its vBoost DC-to-DC converter modules will improve the panels output voltage to the optimum level for the array’s central inverters.

Siemens will provide the inverters, which will enable the economic infeed of solar energy into the power grid.

Construction on the solar PV system is expected to begin this month, and the system will be operational and generating clean energy later this year.

The solar array at the Coalinga plant will join nearly 500kW of existing solar power at Granite’s facilities in California and Arizona.

The company’s Parallel Solar technology offers lower balance-of-system costs and better lifetime energy harvest than traditional series wiring.
