Egypt and Zambia have signed a protocol on co-operation in the fields of electricity and non-conventional energy. Ali el-Saeedi, the Egyptian minister of electricity and energy, and David Savi the Zambian minister of energy and water resources signed the protocol.

The protocol stipulates that Egypt and Zambia will exchange expertise and information on constructing power stations on the basis of the build-own-operate-transfer system. Under the deal, Egyptian experts will help Zambia assess water energy resources and provide advice on how to make use of them for power generation.
