The developer’s North America business group has signed master agreements with three separate top-tier wind turbine manufacturers to support its plans for future development in the US market. It already operates over 2.4 GW of wind capacity in the USA and Canada, and is expecting to add at least 650 of wind capacity in 2017.
“Through these agreements we will continue our strategy to grow in wind and invest in the US, seeking to nearly double our operating capacity over the next four years,” said Rafael Gonzalez, Head of Enel Green Power North America.
Enel Green Power added a record 2018 MW of new capacity in 2016, it said. Key projects completed include the Apiacás Hydroelectric Park (102 MW) in Brazil, the Finis Terrae photovoltaic plant (160 MW) in Chile, and the wind farms of Palo Alto (129 MW) and Vientos del Altiplano (100 MW) in Mexico and the Nojoli wind farm (88MW) in South Africa.
