EDF Energies Nouvelles, the renewable energy unit of Electricite de France, has signed an agreement with Photowatt International to purchase 67.5MWp of photovoltaic modules, including an option on 37.5MWp.

The agreement stipulates that Photowatt International, the solar products manufacturing business of ATS Automation Tooling Systems, will provide EDF Energies Nouvelles with 10MWp of photovoltaic modules based on metallurgical silicon technology. Deliveries will be staggered over three years, from 2008 to 2010.

In addition, options on 7.5MWp in 2008 and 15MWp per annum for 2009 and 2010 have also been agreed. EDF Energies Nouvelles will use these modules mainly for the construction of ground-based solar power plants. The firm said that the agreement is part of its policy of purchasing diversified technologies to meet its various expansion needs in the solar segment.
